How We Increased a Plumbing Company’s Revenue by 53% in a Year

About The Business

Plumb-Tech is a plumbing and heating company in Missoula, Montana. Established in January 2005, this locally owned company has served the Missoula area for over 18 years. Although they are a relatively small team, their professionalism and fantastic customer service have pushed them to be successful in the residential and commercial market.

Plumb-Tech was bought in June of 2021 by its current owner, Kylon Gienger. After more than a year of running his new company, Klyon decided Plumb-Tech needed more of a boost to get the business to reach its full potential. That’s where we came in and started our SEO marketing efforts in November of 2022.

Here is a summary of some of the most critical metrics and highlights during our time with Plumb-Tech. These results were accomplished over 12 months, between November 2022 and November 2023.

  1. Over the course of 11 months, we increased Plumb-Tech’s keyword base by 174%. The increase in keyword rankings is attributed to high-quality, SEO-optimized content and a successful off-page link-building strategy.  
  2. We helped increase month-over-year revenue by at least 30% in all but one month since we started our SEO campaign. 
  3. Regarding lead generation, we have helped Plumb-Tech increase the number of calls to their business by 38% from organic channels. This has led to a 134% increase in booked jobs and a 110% increase in sold jobs.

As a result of all our efforts throughout a 12-month period, we were able to help increase Plumb-Techs’s overall revenue by 53% between November 2022 and November 2023.


We immediately started with an entire site audit and competitor analysis on Plumb-Tech to determine the best approach to benefit them. Along with integrating call tracking numbers to all major channels for clear lead attribution, we optimized landing pages for better keyword rankings and user experience.

In addition, we rolled out a calculated on-page and off-page strategy to continue growing the company’s visibility with potential customers.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Our initial and ongoing keyword research helped identify short and long-term keyword opportunities. The short-term targets helped improve metrics quickly and jumpstart the overall campaign. We also targeted more highly competitive keywords with higher conversion rates early on so that we could work on improving their rankings periodically as the campaign matured.

Although their website’s original keyword base was healthy, we saw a number of potential growth opportunities. With all our research and analytical data, we implemented our keyword strategy by reoptimizing and adding new money pages to the site.

Our strategy continued with acquiring several links from industry-relevant websites with high link authority. We combined all this with creating high-quality content and combining it with our off-page SEO efforts.

Our strategy helped Plumb-Tech’s site grow its keyword base from 3,000 to 10,000. When we initially started working with Plumb-Tech, they ranked for 503 keywords on the 1st page of SERPs, which was more than respectable. However, in a year, we have been able to help them more than double that number to 1208 keywords (as of November 2023). 


Local SEO

Another portion of our strategy saw us optimize Plumb-Tech’s profiles across all local directories, such as Yelp, Angie’s List, etc. We also made improvements to their Google Business Profile page. 

We made sure that we optimized any and all profiles we updated. Doing this led to increased Interaction metrics. A quick breakdown shows a 19% and  49% increase in directions when we compare October 2022 to October 2023 (the latest complete month of data we have at this point).
